New Photo Shoot Location

How lucky are we to have an almost 70 degree afternoon in mid February?  Always multi-tasking, I took my little model on a search for ducks at the John Heinz Wildlife Reserve while hoping to find a scenic spot to take a few photos of my new knot dress.  Success!

The water area was still a bit frozen but the walkway over the water provided a nice backdrop to get a few photos taken.

I just love this color combination!  It's so bright and cheery for Spring! I can't wait for her to be able to wear it without the jeans and t-shirt underneath.  It will make a fantastic sundress!  That's one thing I love about the knot dress, it so versatile.  It can really be worn year round!

After the photos, we took some time to explore the park in search of those ducks!  The walking trails were a bit muddy from all of the melting snow, it was tough to get through a few areas.  We saw lots of squirrels and even 5 wild turkeys in search of lunch.  Towards the end of our walk, we finally found a few Mallards floating in the icy creek.  We decided we should definately go back another day to look for more wildlife and of course take more pictures!

'Etsy Finds' on (yet another) snow filled day

Here we go again.  I was up early listening to the local news channel, waiting to see if the kids would go to school on time today.  It always seems to be a waiting game in our neighborhood.  I could clearly see that the neighboring school districts were on a delayed start schedule before the sun even tried to peek out.  Finally, a phone call...a 2 hour delay due to icy road conditions.  Yea!  The kids could sleep in and I could enjoy a quiet cup of coffee and a cruise through Etsy.

Window shopping at Etsy is becoming a favorite activity of mine.  Shopping from the couch in my jammies is a wonderful way to begin my day!

Today I ran across the cutest shop filled with paintings and prints!  DomesticIcing is run by Charlie Corrigan in Denver Colorado.  I asked Charlie if I could show you a few of my favorite pieces from her shop and if she wouldn't mind sharing a little about her work.  Here's what she told me:

(My name is Charlie.)  I'm 27, live with my husband and my dog, and I sell paintings and prints on Etsy. I work in a library by day and was inspired to learn to paint by all the picture books I handle at work. I'm still learning to do art (I went to school for English Literary Studies, not art) and chronicle my "learning to become an illustrator" efforts on my blog.

If you want to see what my art and I are like, visit my shop or my blog --

These are a couple of my favorite items from her shop.  Go visit and find your own favorites, too!
